NACO, AZ: Due to required and financially insurmountable infrastructure repairs Turquoise Valley Golf shut down operations today. Coming only weeks after Joseph Lewis (one of the course owners) unveiled plans for a potential redevelopment project was quoted as saying, “Given the legacy of this course our hearts are broken to be making this announcement.” The TVG redevelopment plans, which were to include nine of the existing holes along with an amphitheater and other public amenities have been placed on indefinite hold.
Bisbee Ventures One, LLC follows a long list of TVG owners that have invested considerable amounts of money into the course only to see revenue dwindle and losses grow. It is estimated that 200 golf courses throughout the United States close every year.
The closure of TVG will result in the layoff of 14 workers. Lewis said, “These are hardworking, dedicated and loyal employees whom I very much hope quickly find employment elsewhere.”
TVG members will be reimbursed for their unused prorated portion of their memberships. They can also reach out to the TVG voicemail (520) 432-3091 to coordinate the return of golf clubs, personal carts etc.
